The evening’s theme, “The State of Nature: Is the decline of nature in Cornwall inevitable, or can we still find – and create – reasons for hope?”, prompted an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on the future of Cornwall’s natural environment.
The panel discussion was chaired by BBC Radio Cornwall presenter Julie Skentelbery and featured an expert panel including Meg Hayward Smith, Community Nature Advocate and Cornwall Wildlife Trust Trustee; Philip Marsden, award-winning nature, travel and history writer; Professor Kevin Gaston, Professor of Biodiversity and Conservation at the University of Exeter; and Dan Barrios-O’Neill, Head of Marine Conservation at Cornwall Wildlife Trust.
Members of the public attended this ticketed event and enjoyed a warm welcome with drinks and pasties served in Heath Hall before moving into our state-of-the-art Burrell Theatre for the discussion.
The event was also live-streamed by the Truro School Enterprises technical team, enabling Cornwall Wildlife Trust supporters from around the world to watch and engage with the evening remotely.
It was a privilege to host such a fascinating and important event at Truro School, and we look forward to welcoming Cornwall Wildlife Trust back again in the future.
