The dining room at Truro School was filled with conversation, shared memories and familiar faces this weekend as the Truro Cathedral Old Choristers gathered for a reunion carvery lunch.
The group was delighted to welcome special guest David Briggs, who joined alumni from Truro School, Polwhele House and Truro Cathedral School, with former choristers spanning several decades in attendance.
As part of the reunion celebrations, guests enjoyed not only a traditional roast lunch in the school’s dining room, but also a screening of The Phantom of the Opera in the cathedral, accompanied by a spectacular live organ soundtrack performed by David Briggs.
During the event, David reflected warmly on his years living in Truro, sharing memories that included welcoming the Princess of Wales and chorister trips to France. Now living in New York as a US citizen, he spoke fondly of Cornwall, saying that he often looks towards it, across the Atlantic, and part of his heart will always remain in Truro. He also spoke of his lifelong love of the organ and praised the cathedral’s outstanding choir, which he had enjoyed hearing during his four-week tour of the UK and Germany.
It was an honour to welcome the group to Truro School as part of their celebrations. To find out more about venue hire in Truro, please visit our website: Truro School Enterprises.
