Weekly Football Brings Local Dads Together

Every week, a group of local dads come together at the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre for an evening of football, friendship and exercise.

The group has been using our indoor pitch since January, after previously training on the school’s outdoor Astro pitch. The move indoors has provided greater flexibility throughout the winter months, although the recent spell of sunny weather has certainly had them wishing they were back outside!

While the football sessions may be relatively new, many of the friendships have been established over several years. Most of the players are fathers with children attending the same local school, while others have invited friends from different parts of their lives to join in. Between eight and fifteen players attend each week.

For the group, the weekly booking is about much more than football. It provides a regular opportunity to stay active, catch up with friends and enjoy some time away from the demands of work and family life. They previously struggled to find suitable pitch availability elsewhere, making the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre the perfect fit for their weekly game.
