Truro School Cookery Has ‘A Little Taste of Japan’

Chef Makiko Kawabata from ‘Little Taste of Japan’ joined Truro School Cookery to lead a Japanese cookery evening class.

Guests were greeted with welcome drinks whilst they watched a demonstration of how to make Tempura Vegetables. These were sampled whilst Makiko demonstrated how to make Pork Gyozas and Chicken Yakitori – all which attendees went on to make themselves. The group watched a demonstration of rolling sushi, before sitting down to eat all their dishes with more wine.

For dessert, Black Sesame Ice Cream with Black Sesame Shortbread was made by our apprentice chefs.

The evening was a lovely informal way to learn about Japan and its food; Makiko was great at answering everyone’s questions about the dishes as well as those on Japanese culture.

Thank you to Makiko for joining us and hosting this fabulous session!
