Joanna Wood, Head of Enterprises:

Joanna is Head of Truro School Enterprises, and responsible for all non-education related income generation across both the Truro School and Truro School Prep sites. She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and has worked for Truro School and Truro School Enterprises for the past 7 years. With considerable commercial experience within private education, construction/engineering and project management, Joanna is passionate about building sustainable growth within the team. When she’s not working, she enjoys cooking a variety of different cuisines, taking her dogs for walks along Cornwall’s beautiful beaches, and learning ballroom dancing. Her favourite cheese is Miss Wenna.

Aly Birchmore – Events Coordinator:

Aly is our Events Co-Ordinator for both Truro School and Truro School Enterprises. She is responsible for operationally delivering and managing everything from meetings to dance shows to theatrical events, our Burrell Bar and parties! Aly has worked with us for nearly 8 years and has extensive experience in the world of events, catering and nightclubs. On her days off you will find her walking her little dog Mabel on the beach, going to festivals, and travelling the world looking for shells and the perfect sunset. Her favourite cheese is a Cornish Garlic Yarg.

Jess Lawrie – Events and Truro School Enterprises Assistant: 

Jess also works across both Truro School and Truro School Enterprises. Her role includes working with Aly to deliver events and managing our Airbnb, Poltisco House, organising our Truro School’s Community Day and our Artisan Christmas Market. Jess is the creative master of the team and can often be found utilising her art skills, drawing posters or flower arranging in the Chapel. When not at work, Jess likes to bake and decorate celebration cakes, dabble in interior design and take long bracing walks with her dog Bee. Jess’s favourite cheese is a baked camembert.

Dennis Morrell – Business Support and Technical Assistant:

Dennis is TSE’s Business Support and Technical Assistant, a role which covers everything from event space bookings and contracts to booking artists and creating content for social media and more traditional advertising. His background spans live music, theatre and recording studio tech, as well as photography and videography, so you’re just as likely to find him editing photo or video content as running sound and lighting in the Burrell Theatre and new Event Space. Dennis is TSE’s go-to technical contact for events, with a knack for turning even the most ambitious ideas into reality. When not in a darkened theatre, you’ll find him playing guitar in a local band, enjoying long walks with his Border Collie, Kobe, and competing in the Southwestern League with the Kernow Lightning inline hockey team. Both Dennis and Kobe share a love of a good mature Cheddar.
