Artist Flora Forshall has been hard at work preparing the Heseltine Gallery for her upcoming exhibition, Land and Sea.
A graduate of Falmouth University, Flora grew up in a deeply creative environment and was surrounded by art materials from an early age. Her practice encompasses drawing, painting, collage and printmaking, with a particular emphasis on screen printing. Reflecting on her beginnings, she recalls:
“We were always around inks, pens and paints. I started screen printing at university, producing large repeat patterns on metre-long fabrics, working collaboratively with large squeegees to flood the cloth with ink.”
Since graduating, Flora has focused on developing her studio practice, producing limited-edition screen prints and lino prints on paper. Inspired by the natural world — its curves, forms and organic rhythms — she carefully composes shapes so they interlock like pieces of a puzzle. Collage plays a key role in her process, allowing her to experiment freely with marks and forms before separating colours and translating her ideas into print.
One of her favourite pieces in the exhibition is Huatulco, inspired by her 2024 artist residency in Mexico. During her time there, she learned to screen print using natural pigments traditionally found in local textiles. The experience had a lasting impact, deepening her exploration of positive and negative space, balance, and visual storytelling through composition. The vivid colours and distinctive forms of Mexico’s flowers and plants resonate throughout the exhibition.
This evening, Flora will host an invite-only preview ahead of the public opening tomorrow, Saturday 28th February. Visitors are welcome to attend the exhibition without an appointment; however, those wishing to meet Flora and discuss her work are encouraged to arrange a time via email or telephone.

Flora is delighted to present her work in Truro in what marks her first large-scale solo exhibition. Tonight’s preview will be her first of its kind, and she looks forward to welcoming visitors over the coming weekends to experience artworks that have been years in the making.
Land and Sea will be on display at the Heseltine Gallery on weekends only, 10am–4pm, until 27th March.
